Colposcopy
Colposcopy is a simple procedure that allows the physician to look more closely at the cervix and identify an existing abnormal process. A special microscope called a colposcope is used for this examination.
It is advisable to take a pap smear with the colposcopic examination. Only performing these two methods together gives patient optimal results. If no injury is detected, the plan of further action depends on the smear results from the cervix. If the colposcopy shows a pathology, to determine the need for treatment, the physician removes a small tissue fragment from the abnormal area (targeted biopsy). The treatment tactics are determined by the results of the morphological study of the material.
